Waco (McLennan County) — The grand opening of Fire Station #15 on March 20, was a blaze of community spirit. Residents, city officials, and proud firefighters came together to dedicate the state-of-the-art facility at 10905 Panther Way (near the Ritchie Road water tower).

The crowd was treated to a traditional fire engine push-in ceremony following the ribbon-cutting ceremony. This time-honored tradition symbolizes the official placement of the engine into its new home. Adding to the festivities, Sparky the Fire Dog appeared, and attendees had the opportunity to tour the new fire station.

Fire Station #15 is an over $6 million, approximately 8,200-square-foot structure. The state-of-the-art facility features a three-bay setup, individual sleeping quarters that can accommodate up to eight fire personnel per shift, large washing machines that can clean the firefighters’ gear, apparatus exhaust removal systems, and decontamination areas available before entering the station.

The new fire station serves the West Waco neighborhood, which has seen rapid residential growth in recent years. It is fully staffed with one captain, two lieutenants, three engineers, and six firefighters. A minimum of three personnel will be on duty daily. The new facility will help reduce response times, ensure the department is available to handle emergencies, and help maintain our standard for getting a fire truck on scene.
