The ceremony included remarks from Mayor Duane Crocker; City Manager Jesús A. Garza; Kristin Moses, Gary Moses’ niece; Corbin Lauger of Lauger Companies, a Victoria-based contractor involved in the project; Cal Cornwell with architectural firm Populous; and Marty Schmitt with owner’s representative AGCM.

What’s next
The first phase of construction will include the start of work on the new event arena, the new stall barn and other improvements that can be made without closing the facility.

The community center will remain open through February 2027, including during the 2027 Victoria Livestock Show. All facilities used by the livestock show will remain open and accessible. Parking in the back of the community center may be limited while construction is ongoing. City officials remain in communication with livestock show officials and will work to minimize parking impacts.
In March 2027, the community center will close for further renovations to the existing structure, including the dome and the conversion of the arena into an exhibition hall.
The community center will continue to host walk-in hours from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, until it closes in March following the Growing Victoria Summit.
The community center will reopen in time for the 2028 Victoria Livestock Show.
