Oak Cliff (Dallas County) — Construction and tenant buildout work is nearing completion on a new retail store in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas, where Target is preparing to open a large-format location at the Wynnewood Village shopping center.
The new store, located at 655 W. Illinois Ave., encompasses approximately 110,000 square feet and represents a major redevelopment and tenant finish-out within the existing shopping center. The project involved preparing the space for a full-service Target location, including retail floor space, customer service areas, and infrastructure to support omnichannel fulfillment, such as curbside pickup and same-day delivery.

In addition to the main retail component, the store will feature several in-store service areas, including a CVS Pharmacy and a Starbucks café. The site will also support Target’s Drive Up, Order Pickup, and same-day delivery through the retailer’s Target Circle 360 platform, as well as next-day delivery across the Dallas market.
The Oak Cliff store is slightly smaller than the retailer’s typical 125,000-square-foot format but remains larger than the compact urban stores Target operates in dense markets. Company officials said merchandise and store offerings have been tailored to reflect the needs of the surrounding community, with product selections aimed at serving the neighborhood’s Hispanic and Black residents.
The location will be the 160th Target store in Texas and the 51st in the Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. The store is expected to employ more than 160 team members when it opens to customers on March 15.
The Oak Cliff opening is part of Target’s broader national expansion strategy, which plans to open more than 30 stores in 2026 as part of a $5 billion capital investment program. The initiative supports the company’s long-term goal of adding more than 300 stores nationwide by 2035 while also funding remodels, technology upgrades, and improvements to order fulfillment capabilities.
Seven new Target stores are scheduled to open in March across the country, including locations in California, Missouri, New Jersey, and North Carolina. One of those openings will mark the company’s 2,000th U.S. store. Company leaders say the expansion reflects continued demand for stores closer to residential neighborhoods and a broader effort to combine in-store shopping with digital order fulfillment.
