Austin (Travis County) — The Austin Housing Finance Corporation has approved additional funding for The Sasha, a supportive housing development underway at 1325 Grove Blvd. The project received an additional $300,000 in Project Connect funds, bringing total local financing support to nearly $8.8 million as part of a broader effort to address housing instability and homelessness.

The scope of work includes the ground-up construction of a 60-unit multifamily community designed specifically for supportive housing. The development will feature a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units, with half designated as permanent supportive housing and the remaining half as transitional housing. The project is designed to integrate residential units with wraparound service space, supporting residents with counseling, case management, and other resources.

The project is being developed by DMA Development Company, with The SAFE Alliance serving as owner and operator. The capital stack includes Low-Income Housing Tax Credit equity, local housing bond funding, Project Connect funds, and a Federal Home Loan Bank grant, totaling approximately $28.8 million in development costs.

Construction is currently underway, with completion expected in spring 2027. Once delivered, the project will serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness, including those fleeing domestic and sexual violence. All units will be income-restricted, serving households earning between 30% and 50% of the median family income, and will remain affordable for at least 45 years as part of the city’s long-term housing strategy.
