Corpus Christi (Nueces County) – The City of Corpus Christi hosted over 150 contractors from around the world to engage in discussions about the Inner Harbor Seawater Desalination Project which VBX has reported on since 2020.
Corpus Christi Water (CCW), the primary water supplier for a seven-county region with over 500,000 customers, aims to establish a 30 million gallon-a-day water treatment facility to provide a sustainable water source for the area.
The City hopes to expedite the project by having the design and construction services contracted by a single entity known as the design-builder.
“This project will provide a drought-proof water source for the community and countless businesses who depend on CCW for superior-rated water services,” Drew Molly, CCW’s Chief Operating Officer, said.
The Inner Harbor Seawater Desalination Plant will be the first seawater treatment plant for municipal use in Texas. This scientifically proven method will have a minimal effect on the coastal region.
