Midland (Midland County) — Construction is now underway on the highly anticipated Omni Midland Hotel, marking a major milestone for the long-planned downtown convention district project. Omni Hotels & Resorts officially broke ground on the development in partnership with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, advancing what will become the brand’s 12th property in Texas.
The project calls for a full-service, luxury hotel featuring 143 guest rooms and nearly 16,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and flexible conference areas. Plans also include three dining concepts—highlighted by Bob’s Steak & Chop House—along with a rooftop pool deck, full-service spa, and additional upscale amenities. Located adjacent to the George H. W. Bush Convention Center, the hotel is designed to support conventions, business travel, and tourism activity in the city’s core.

The development team has assembled a group of nationally recognized design firms to deliver the project. HKS Architects is leading architectural design, while Looney & Associates is overseeing interiors. The Design Agency has been tapped to curate the hotel’s food and beverage concepts, helping position the property as a destination for both visitors and local residents.
First announced in 2024, the Omni Midland Hotel represents a significant investment in downtown revitalization and long-term economic growth. City leaders and project stakeholders have emphasized the hotel’s role in enhancing Midland’s ability to attract conferences and large-scale events, while supporting continued investment across the Permian Basin. Once complete, the project is expected to serve as a central hub for business, hospitality, and community activity in West Texas.
