San Antonio Developer Has Two North Bexar County Apartment Projects in Pre-Development

San Antonio (Bexar County) — A local developer has two market rate multifamily projects in design, both of them to be located in north Bexar County.

An application for a major plat was filed March 9 with the Development Services Department. Titled Tacara Dove Creek MF, the application was filed by a civil engineer on behalf of DCI Developers LLC (Casey Development Ltd.).

The project site is undeveloped land with a total area of 16 acres. It is located south of Potranco Road and has street frontage on the west side of Empresario Drive, a recently constructed street that is west of Loop 1604.

Casey Development is proposing construction of an apartment complex that would have 321 units and a gross floor area of 140,000 square feet. Amenities would include a swimming pool, pavilion/gazebo, picnic area and open play areas.

Technical reviews concerning utilities, drainage and traffic are still underway. The plat will require approval from the Planning Commission, but this case has not yet been scheduled for their consideration.

Tacara Dove Creek is within the Northside Independent School District.

Tacara at Stone Oak

Casey Development has also held title for several years to land in Stone Oak, with the intention of creating mixed-use retail and residential development. Site work began in 2019 on land that has frontage with U.S. Highway 281 North, north of Stone Oak Parkway.

The expressway frontage development is commercial. A part of this was carried in the VBX construction documents database as Tacara Stone Oak Retail Shell Buildings (Subbid), 12800 block of U.S. 281 North. Project ID 2019-7002 has since been archived.

However, another 25.8 acres located west of that includes MF-25 zoning, which allows for up to 25 apartment units per acre.

The Casey Development website refers to this project as Tacara at Stone Oak Apartments. This residential development was projected to reach the construction phase by the 4th quarter of 2018 and take 22 months to complete, but it was delayed.

Casey describes this as a luxury Class A apartment community that will have 335 units, and is ” designed to take advantage of the site’s elevated terrain and views, and will be have a Spanish-Mediterranean theme, reminiscent of San Antonio’s heritage.

“Exterior materials will include stone and stucco with composition roofs on the residential buildings and tile roofs on amenity buildings.”
