Corpus Christi (Nueces County) — The Christus Spohn Health System is planning a $9.5 million expansion and renovation of the Emergency Department at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-South.
According to an architect’s report filed with the state today (March 11), the project will include 13,000 square feet of new construction. The addition to the Emergency Department is part of a project that will also include the renovation of approximately 5,900 square feet of existing emergency room space.
The scope of work also includes some site work on real estate that is adjacent to the expansion area. The project name is Spohn South ED Renovation & Expansion.
Spohn Hospital CC-South is located at 5950 Saratoga Boulevard. However, the Emergency Department is off of Spohn Drive. In 1992, Spohn Hospital CC-South was the second hospital Christus Spohn Health System opened in Corpus Christi.
The Christus Spohn Health System, based in Irving, retained the services of a Corpus Christi architectural firm, CLK Architects & Associates Inc. CLK Architects have a broad range of experience in the design of healthcare and other institutional facilities.
No building permit application activity was found for this project, yet, in the city’s Development Services office.
CLK estimates that construction may begin as soon as June 1. If so, the work may be completed by July 31, 2021.
This is VBX Project ID 2020-21CA.
