Buda (Hays County) — A Fort Lauderdale RV company received rezoning for a RV dealership development during a recent City Council meeting.

The property was converted from district four (F4) to I-35 Business (B-3), with a specific use permit for the sale and service of motorized vehicles.

The 22.99 acres property, Explore USA & Airstream of Buda, is located at 15855 S. I-35, west of FM 2001, and south of East Goforth Road, and is the current site of the existing Camper Clinic RV dealership.

RV Retailer, LLC, the developers, recently acquired the dealership and are proposing the demolition of the current site and constructing a new RV dealership.

RV Retailer, LLC desires a modernized facility that is more attractive and accessible, according to documents submitted to the city.

The demolition would include two buildings; four metal carports; a wood shed; a metal shed; concrete and asphalt, along with an abandoned barn; five existing power poles and overhead electric lines in coordination with Pedernales Electric Cooperative Inc.; an existing fence; and the removal of several trees.

RV Retailer, LLC will develop Explore USA & Airstream of Buda under two phases.

Phase I will include a one story building, with a height of 27-feet, that will hold the showroom, associated parking and a six foot wrought iron fence.

Phase II will include a second showroom building and another one story building with a height of 35-feet, along with a service shop.

Site plan.

The development of Explore USA & Airstream of Buda will be a $38 million total dealership investment by RV Retailer, LLC, which includes a $15 million facility investment.

A site plan by Katy-based civil engineers Cool Breeze Consultants LLC reveals a 57,167 SF detention pond, 52.99 % impervious cover, 286 parking spaces and six bicycle parking spaces.

The Galveston architect office of Sparc Plus, the Austin office of landscape architects Evergreen Design Group, Inc. and surveyor Abram Dashner, RPLS are on board the project.
