Canterbury Trail Improvements

El Paso, TX (El Paso Co.) 

Work includes: The Canterbury Trail is located along Canterbury Drive and the project limits are from Ridgecrest Drive to Stanton Street (approximately 2,200 linear feet). The intent of the project is to provide a trail that pedestrians, hikers, and bicyclists can use. The trail will also include the following amenities: aesthetic bollard dark sky compliant lighting, shaded gathering area, benches, a pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge crossing the existing concrete channel mid-street, landscaping with 2-inch caliper trees, and irrigation improvements. The walking trail will consist of an asphalt pavement surface.

Base Bid I: Trail Improvements
The proposed improvements consist of a new walking trail which will consist of an asphalt pavement surface and include the following amenities: aesthetic bollard dark sky compliant lighting, shaded gathering area, benches, landscaping with trees, and irrigation improvements.
Demolition: Removal and proper disposal of existing landscape amenities & miscellaneous concrete items including: trees, bushes, rock, gravel, concrete sidewalk, concrete curb & gutter, concrete rip-rap, asphalt pavement, etc. within the project limits.
Improvements: Installation of a new 10’ wide asphalt walking trail with concrete header curb, new concrete sidewalks, ramps, handrails, pre-fabricated pedestrian bridge structure, garden walls, rockwalls, landscaping and associated amenities, irrigation improvements, and illumination improvements. The work will require establishing traffic control and erosion control measures.
Base Bid II: Drainage Improvements
The proposed improvements consist of removal and replacement of the existing concrete channel and concrete drainage flumes, and concrete rip-rap. The existing rockwalls/headwalls will also be repointed/re-grouted.
Demolition: Removal and proper disposal of existing reinforced concrete lined channel, mortared rock rip-rap, concrete drainage flumes, and guardrail & timber posts within the project limits.
Improvements: Installation of a new reinforced concrete drainage channel of same size/dimensions as existing, new concrete drainage flumes, new concrete access ramps, new guardrail & timber posts, and new locking swing gates @ ramps.
Base Bid III: Pedestrian Improvements Along Stanton Street
The proposed improvements consist of installing pedestrian elements along Stanton Street to include: concrete refuge island, flashing beacon assemblies, signage and pavement markings.
Demolition: Removal of proper disposal of existing asphalt pavement and base course, and elimination of conflicting existing pavement markings.
Improvements: Installation of new concrete refuge island, advance warning roadside flashing beacon assemblies, new signage, and crosswalk & travel lane pavement markings. The work will require establishing traffic control measures.
